Leon Wilson was born November 26, 1923 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. At an early age his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he spent his youth, received his education and grew to a handsome young man. After finishing school he joined the U.S. Navy where the adventure began. He loved the Navy and was staioned in Santa Rosa, California on the U.S. Chippewa ATF 69 for quite some time. While there he discovered his love for fishing an it kept him busy and remained his passion for the rest of his life. He was wounded while in the service and after receiving an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Tulsa where he met and married Catherine Croslin. To this union 3 children were born. Catherine preceded him in death at a young age. He then met and married Myrthie Marie McIntosh who joined him in raising his 3 small children.
Leon accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of First Baptist Mohawk where he worked diligently until his health began to fail. He was the Church bus driver for many years and loved working in Vacation Bible School. He received many awards for his dedicated service.
Leon was employed with the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 32 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Williams; father, Fallie Wilson; stepmother, Ida Mae Wilson; daughter, Gwendolyn Wilson Bell; son, George Leon Wilson; brothers, Jack Wilson, Robert Stewart and Fredrick Stewart; sisters, Justine Johnson and Verdell Ware.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie of the home; 1 daughter, Sandra Wright, Chicago, IL; 1 son, Noell Mosley (Mel), Tulsa, OK; one special granddaughter they raised Rhonda Bell Mullenix; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Howard Stewart, (Frances), Upland, CA; Charles Wilson (Debbie), Tulsa, OK; 4 sisters, Lendora Smith (Chester), Dorothy Henderson (Jack), Penzola Mason (Wyatt) and Jackie Gains, all of Tulsa, OK; 2 brother-in-laws, Ben McIntosh and Wayne McIntosh (Erma); 2 sister-in-laws, Sylvia Rogers and Helen Stewart; 2 special nieces that took care of him, Billie Jean Mayberry and Alfreda Reed and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
